Meet Shelly rosen

"Over the years, cannabis helped me reduce and eventually replace prescription medications, manage anxiety, and stay connected to myself. I’ve now spent over 30 years learning, experimenting, and educating myself—long before legalization caught up.

Also, I’ve owned and operated a successful small business for 25 years, which has given me a deep understanding of people from all walks of life—their cultures, backgrounds, and the wide range of needs they bring with them."

- Shelly, Director of Programming

my cannabis journey

I didn’t arrive in this work by accident—I was led here by lived experience, curiosity, and a deep need for healing. Long before cannabis was considered medicine by the world around me, it was already serving that role in my life.

Thinking Back

I came of age in an era when even researching the plant could put you at risk. There were no how-to books, no dispensaries, no community care models—just intuition, trial and error, and a quiet, persistent knowing that this plant had something to offer.

My approach is grounded in reality and compassion. I don’t believe in drawing lines around who gets to belong in this space or making this plant feel out of reach. I believe in accessible, shame-free education. My work is informed by experience, not just theory. I’ve walked this path myself.

The Ceremony of Consumption

Some of my favorite sessions have taken place out in nature—there’s something grounding about being surrounded by fresh air and green things with the plant in hand. I also really enjoy consuming before exercise or yoga because it helps me focus, tune into my breath, and stay present in my body.

I wish more people understood that cannabis isn’t about escape—it’s about connection. To the body, to the breath, to a sense of presence. I’m endlessly grateful that we can now speak openly about its benefits, but I’m still frustrated by how regulated access can feel, the medical red tape, and the lingering stigma for people who use cannabis as part of a healthy routine.

To me, plant medicine is both ancient and intuitive. It’s a remembering, not a trend. I believe in its power to support physical and emotional healing, and I believe every person has the right to explore it safely and with guidance.

Contributing To The Industry

The most important traits for cannabis professionals? Humility, lived experience, curiosity, and the ability to hold space without judgment. This is still new territory for a lot of people—and we have an opportunity to learn and grow together.
